Michael Tolf: Music/Lyrics
"I Know I Believe" - from the album "My Greatest Need"
(Michael Tolf)
Thinking back on my younger years
I didn't have many doubts or fears - oh no
Listening to that old gospel beat
I'd snap my fingers and tap my feet - oh yeah
Now that I have lived awhile
I've learned that through life's trials you still can smile
I'm so glad my Lord doesn't change
His love for me will always remain the same
I know I believe in the blood of the lamb
I know that I'm free - that's what I am
I know I believe in the blood of the lamb
I know that I'm free - that's what I am
Some people they just don't understand
What it means to follow the lamb of God
They try so hard just to get through their day
They don't realize there is a better way
For Christ said that to all who believe
Into His kingdom He'd receive them all
I believe God's word is true
And that's why I'm here to say to you
I know I believe in the blood of the lamb
I know that I'm free - that's what I am
I know I believe in the blood of the lamb
I know that I'm free - that's what I am
STORY BEHIND THE SONG
When I first wrote this song, I thought it was a little "cheezy". But after sharing it with some friends, and performing it a few times - I realized that it is a good song with a powerful message. So, to all you songwriters out there - don't be too critical of your own work!
